Kitty Bruce-Gardyne is a designer and champion of Scottish textiles. She is working hard to preserve some of Scotland’s most talented artisans, supporting and celebrating the people who have kept these heritage skills alive for future generations to enjoy.
Kitty has opened her first shop The Scottish Textile Showcase inside the famous Tron Kirk on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. This wonderful showcase features textile accessories and gifts made by many of Scotland’s talented artisans and rural wool mills including Knockando Woolmill and we’re absolutely thrilled to have been handpicked by Kitty to feature on the textiles map. A colourful selection of our scarves are currently on sale in the shop.
Kitty, comments: “It’s truly exciting to deliver our textiles showcase working in partnership with the industry. With a large map of Scotland on the wall we can illustrate where all of our retail products have been made and by whom – from the highly talented Harris Tweed weavers in the Outer Isles and Speyside’s very own Knockando Woolmill to the historic cashmere mills in the Scottish Borders. We encourage our customers to discover the story of Scottish textiles for themselves by visiting the mills and makers on their travels through Scotland.”
The textiles shop is open daily from 10am to 7pm. It’s located inside the Tron Kirk Church on the Royal Mile, if you’re planning a visit, look out for the Edinburgh World Heritage signs at the door!
