A thank you party was held today for Dr. Jana Hutt who is retiring from the Woolmill company board. Jana was presented with an Angie Lewin painting which was specially commissioned for the occasion.
Trust Chairman Nicola Irwin thanked Jana and presented her with the painting:
"Welcome to everyone and thank you all for coming to highlight the opening of our sixth season at the Woolmill.
The Woolmill is a special place and has special supporters. A huge thank you to all who support us with their time and generosity …. Thank you so much to all the volunteers who seem to still be happy to give so much time so freely …. To those who work here we all give a huge thank you for seeing us through what has been a challenging time over the winter … to the Trustees enormous gratitude for all their time and skills and support ….
But today we particularly thank Keith Steel who is retiring as a Company Director, having been with the Company since its inception …. He has given huge amounts of time and expertise and we are most grateful to him for all he has contributed.
However there is another Company director who is retiring …. and that is of course Jana.
Jana has been the driving force behind the restoration project, setting up the charitable Trust responsible for saving this site, the last surviving local industrial woolmill on mainland Britain. She has been involved with the project for twenty years and is owed a huge debt of gratitude by us all.
The generosity of those who donated to this watercolour by Angie Lewin is testament to the respect in which Jana is held by us all. A few quotes …. ‘How hard Jana has worked for the Mill and for so long’ ‘there is no-one who deserves it more’ ‘this is in recognition of all that Jana has done’ ‘a richly deserved thank-you from those associated with the Woolmill. Without Jana it is unlikely that the project would have happened … her astute chairmanship’
Sentiments with which we all agree, and I am delighted, Jana, to give you this painting done specially for you by Angie on behalf of us all."
