Education

Education and training are vital to the future life of Knockando Woolmill. We hope to offer a range of opportunities to schools, further and higher education establishments and those interested in practical training.

Schools

The Moray Council Education Department has endorsed the Woolmill for use by secondary school pupils through Determined to Succeed projects. The Council also feels there are opportunities for teacher placements. For further information, please contact Graham Milne, 01343-557900.

Further opportunities for other school pupils will be developed once restoration has been completed.

Colleges and Universities

We intend to provide work placements and other work opportunities for students of design. A prospectus will be produced once restoration is completed.

Practical training

We intend to take on textile engineering apprentices both during and after restoration. In partnership with Historic Scotland, we hope to offer Craft Fellowships in heritage engineering. We will also provide opportunities for masonry and cladding restoration in partnership with the Scottish Lime Centre.

Once restoration is completed, we hope to run courses in a range of textile-related subjects.
