Education

Education and training are vital to the future life of Knockando Woolmill. We hope to offer a range of opportunities to schools, further and higher education establishments and those interested in practical training. For further details please contact our Learning and Outreach Manager:

Schools

Our Learning and Outreach work in schools has begun with local primary and secondary schools taking part in a textile design challenge. This will culminate in schools’ artworks being displayed alongside those of professional artists in the Scotland: Fabrications exhibition to be held at Elgin Library in March 2012.

CPD Event for Teachers: Knockando Woolmill as a Context for Interdisciplinary Learning

This half day event is designed to introduce participants to the opportunities Knockando Woolmill can provide for real and relevant learning contexts within and across all CfE curriculum areas. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the Mill’s Education team, to share ideas and help shape the development of education programmes which meet the needs of all (Woolmill, students, teachers and the wider community).

Four half day sessions will run over Friday 17th February and Saturday 18th February 2012. More details can be found on Moray Council’s online CPD Event Catalogue, CPD Bookit.

Colleges and Universities

We intend to provide work placements and other work opportunities for students of design. A prospectus will be produced once restoration is completed.

Textiles

Once restoration is completed, we hope to run courses in a range of textile-related subjects.
