"The wool mill is very interesting. We were amazed at how many stages there are in the process of making wool yarn and wool cloth. Lovely and well priced yarn, cloth, scarves etc to purchase. Baked goods made on the premises. Try the scones—they are baked every morning!" HoosierAmy from Indiana.
"Knockando Woolmill is a working preserved woolmill with a fascinating heritage. All the machinery that went into taking the raw fleeces and transforming them into wool, cloth and tweed is here, and working. Very nice cafe, a waterwheel, shop, brilliant photo exhibition and places for the children to interact. Free admission." Kevin H.
"We booked and paid for the tour. It turned out it was just the two of us. Absolutely brilliant! We had the history explained and we were shown and told about all the individual machines and processes. The shop sells double knit and aran weight yarn in a mixture of colours which are simply beautiful. Roving wool too if you're interested in needle felting. Postcards, books and a very nice jute bag. But the best items, though are the blankets, scarves and accessories, just stunning. Yes they aren't cheap, but neither should they be when you understand the time, love, expertise and effort that goes into producing them." Sockknitter5 from Kelso, UK.
"We popped in here on our way along the Speyside Way, mainly for a tea and cake. Well, the tea and cake was wonderful. The staff are helpful and friendly and the mill is interesting and beautifully done. All this within 10 minutes of both the Speyside Way and the Cardhu Distillery (not to mention the Tamdhu disused station)." Loedun from the UK.
"The grounds are beautiful and the gardens are very well kept. We finished our visit with a lovely cup of coffee and a big slice of some amazing coffee cake, which we ate outside in the garden. The coffee house uses biodegradable cups, plates and even cutlery in a bid to reduce its carbon footprint - they compost it all on site and use it in the garden." Michael H.

"Enjoyed our visit to Knockando woollen mill this morning a unique and very interesting experience. The buildings are beautifully restored and the exhibits allow you get a feel of it's history. The shop is stocked with stunning merchandise produced in the mill. We finalised our visit with a divine cup of coffee and cheese scone in Red Roof Coffee. Would thoroughly recommend a visit." "Absolutely fantastic. We paid for the tour - excellent value for money. The processes were explained really well and we would thoroughly recommend it to all. The shop has some beautiful items. Stunning blankets, shawls and scarves. If you're a knitter then the yarn is to die for again in stunning colours. This has been one of our favourite activities during our holiday. I would return!" "We visited the mill with our 2 kids (5 and 12). We appreciated the place, so peaceful and well restored. We went during the week, the machines were working and we had interesiting explanations by the workers (very kind!) about the use of the different machines and the transformation of the wool. We finished the visit at the Red Roof Cafe, we highly recommend the cheese scones. In the shop it is possible to find really beautiful presents." Laura Brambilla
