Meet the Team

Posted on

Essential to the day to day running of the Woolmill, we thought it was about time we introduced you to our magnificent team!

First up we have Caroline Adamson, Manager of our onsite coffee shop - Red Roof Coffee. A master baker and expert cook, Caroline has been with us now for seven seasons. If she’s not in the café whipping up cappuccinos, you’ll find her in the fields tending to her three horses, pony and undisclosed number of ducks and guineafowl.

Having recently left school, Rory is the youngest member of our team at the Mill. Rory can make a mean cup of coffee and has excellent local knowledge, cycling the Speyside Way to work every day. He’s here to help Caroline keep up with the busyness of the summer months before heading off to Aberdeen to study medicine!

If you venture into our shop during your visit, you’ll find Rachael Horsburgh ready to advise you on any potential purchase. This is Rachael’s first season at the Mill bringing with her vast experience in retail; we’re lucky to have her!
Rachael is also a well-known local artist. During her art degree show she was awarded the Scottish Society of Art Award as an invited graduate to exhibit as part of the SSA annual exhibition in the Royal Scottish Academy. Her work sold within the first day but the buyer remains unknown. She now has a piece of art living out in the world somewhere but no idea where it is.

Alex Ross is the first of our Volunteers at the Mill, maintaining the working order of all of our historic machinery - not an easy task by any stretch! If you’re lucky enough to visit on a Tuesday you’ll witness Alex in action, showcasing the machinery to guests touring the Mill. We’re extremely grateful to have Alex as part of our small but mighty team.
Fun fact: Alex has walked through the Channel Tunnel and in 1989 walked 100 miles within 24 hours to become only the 854th person to do so since The Centurions were formed in 1911. He is a very cool guy.

Last but by no means least we have Stella Kyte, our Chief Volunteer Tour Guide. Stella gives up her time to take visitors around the Mill and we’ll be forever indebted to her and the knowledge that she brings. If you ever come to the Mill for a tour there’s a good chance you’ll meet this marvellous lady.
Fun fact: Stella once took part in a cross-country mountain bike race and came third in her class. Maybe she could race Rory to the mill one day!
