Busega Scotland Shukas

Posted on

The Shuka project has been a unique collaboration between Knockando Woolmill, Busega Scotland and, most importantly, the children at the Mayega Children's Centre in Tanzania.

Children from the centre helped design the Shuka pattern, which incorporates the colours of both the Tanzanian and Scottish flags. The children are excited about being involved in such an international collaboration!

If you're not familiar with Busega Scotland, it is a charity that supports children and families close to the city of Mwanza, which is on the southern shore of Lake Victoria in Northern Tanzania. The aim of the charity is to work with disadvantaged and poor communities to reduce poverty and improve life chances. It is run in Scotland by volunteers.

Busega Scotland's three main projects are: Mayega Children’s Centre, Moving-on Project, and Family Support Project.

The charity works closely with partner organisations in Tanzania, and here in Scotland Busega has an active role raising awareness and organising fundraising initiatives.

Made from 100% Pure New Wool, the traditional African Shukas are priced at £95.00. If you would like to purchase a Shuka, please email office@kwc.co.uk.
